General information

This privacy policy explains which personal data are processed when you visit this website, for what purposes and on what legal basis. I process your data only to the extent necessary to operate this website, answer your enquiries and provide my services, or where you have given your consent. Your data are not sold and are not passed on for advertising purposes. No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place.

Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with IONOS. The data are processed in data centres within the EU.

Each time the website is accessed, the server automatically stores information transmitted by your browser (server log files):

• IP address,
• date and time of access,
• page or file accessed,
• previously visited page (referrer),
• browser type, browser version and operating system.

These data are used solely to provide the website technically, to ensure its stability and security and to detect misuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The log files are stored only for as long as necessary for these purposes and are then deleted.

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” and the padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar. Data you transmit to this website, for example via the contact form, therefore cannot be read by third parties.

Cookies and consent management

This website only uses cookies that are necessary for its operation and cookies to which you have expressly consented. I manage your choice with the Cookiebot service provided by Usercentrics A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark. Cookiebot stores your consent or refusal in a cookie on your device and logs it so that I can demonstrate consent. This involves processing, among other things, a shortened IP address, the date and time and your choice. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR (obligation to demonstrate consent). A data processing agreement is in place with Usercentrics.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. An overview of all cookies used and the option to adjust your settings can be found in the cookie declaration at the end of this page.

Fonts and icons

The fonts (Cormorant Garamond, Jost) and icons (Tabler Icons) used on this website are stored locally on my server. No connection to third-party servers, such as Google’s, is established for this purpose when you visit the site.

Contact form, email and telephone

If you contact me via the contact form, by email or by telephone, I process the data you provide in order to answer your enquiry and, where applicable, prepare a quotation. In the contact form, these are your name and email address (mandatory) and, optionally, your telephone number, your preferred moving date and your message. The enquiry is stored on the server and sent to me by email. An invisible additional field protects against automated spam enquiries.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract, and otherwise my legitimate interest in answering enquiries under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Your data will be deleted once your enquiry has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. If a contract is concluded, the statutory retention periods for business records apply.

Online appointment booking (TidyCal)

For booking appointments I use the TidyCal service provided by Sumo Group Inc., 1305 E. 6th St #3, Austin, TX 78702, USA. For this purpose, a TidyCal script is loaded when you open the homepage, which transmits your IP address to TidyCal or its network service providers. If you book an appointment, TidyCal processes the data you enter (for example name, email address, selected time slot and your comments) and passes them on to me.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract) and my legitimate interest in simple appointment scheduling under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Data may be transferred to the USA in this context. The transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). More information: TidyCal privacy policy.

Purchase of the practical guide (Payhip)

I sell my practical guide via the Payhip platform operated by Payhip Ltd, London, United Kingdom. My website only contains a link to it; data are transmitted only when you click this link. Payhip itself is responsible for the purchase process. The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for the United Kingdom. More information: Payhip privacy policy.

Links to other websites

This website contains links to websites of other providers. When you click on them, their privacy policies apply; I have no influence on the data processing there.

Storage period

I store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention periods. The data are then deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right at any time to

• rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
• erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR),
• restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),

Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR: Where I process data on the basis of my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

Under French law, you may also give instructions regarding the handling of your data after your death (Art. 85 of the French Data Protection Act, Loi Informatique et Libertés).
